Disturbed............Yet...Extremely Aroused

I JUST finished this book, and I must say, it was excellent indeed. So much so that I feel compelled to review it. I'm soooo glad I bought AHF.
I was very skeptical at first about purchasing it. *Sidenote* (BSB-You really need to reevaluate your pricing. Not Every book you put out is worth 9.99. Just saying--but that's real talk. These are sketchy times and a girl's gotta eat, read, and buy cute accessories. I've been taking my chances on more economical reads lately-and there are plenty of good ones out there.)
Nonetheless, I'm absolutely ecstatic with THIS purchase. I was doubly hesitant about buying due to the context. The Mommy/little girl concept threw me, and I've read quite a bit of BDSM. Didn't think that dynamic would interest me. However, it was lovely and amazing! I was hooked by the second page. It had me LOLing quite frequently and immediately aroused and blushing in the next instant. I never thought I'd like something like it, but I was riveted by the romance between Suzy & her Mami. This was a rare D/s tale in which, oddly, I could see myself in either the H/h role. It was a most pleasant surprise. The bondage and pain aspect of it was just the right amount. Not too much or over the top and always with nuanced descriptions of Suzy's psychological state. Although it was written in first person, the other characterizations were well fleshed out. Mami had the most nurturing nature. Liam was an excellent friend. One of Suzy's playmates (I won't spoil it by saying who) is nicely redeemed. Even though I started with reservations, somewhere along the way, I realized Suzy's relationship with her Mami was pretty much like any other relationship in the life. It was just a different kind of special...
I've read 2 of Weatherspoon's other books (the 2 in her vamp series-and they're decent-I've read AT LEAST one book from probably a couple hundred different vamp series, so I'm super hard to impress on that front), but I can definitely see how her craft has progressed and continues to improve. I think she hit a bull's eye on this erotic romance. I loved watching how the love-albeit quickly-evolves between Suzy & Mami P. The ending was quick and easy without being rushed, and it left me feeling gratified.
Final Thoughts: Would I recommend this one? Oh, absolutely. If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll notice I read a lot, and my choices are ALL over the place. Not just lesbian, not just erotica or romance even. I generally CRINGE at 1st person stories and series based on one character/couple. This is one of those stories that I truly look forward to reading again. Not only that, I also actually wouldn't mind reading more about Suzy & Pilar's sexcapades. So...In case you're still wondering.. BUY. THIS. BOOK!!! You won't be disappointed. Unless you have something against D/s, ridiculously, incredibly fantastic g-o-g sex, or a hot multicultural cast of characters, you'll be satisfied with the decision.

A very touching love story

This book introduced me to the world of Mommies and their little girls, but that was only part of it. This variation on D/s was a whopping eye-opener for me and the primary couple was beyond fantastic. I apologize, but I need to publicly extol both Rebekah Weatherspoon and Bold Strokes Books right up front. I cannot personally vouch for the accuracy of this lifestyle as presented, but I can praise to the universe the 110 percent believability of the women depicted and spot on lifelike tangibility of the high powered work scenario.
Suzanne Kim has a Korean father and a Jamaican mother, but that wonderfully and tenderly rarely becomes an issue...a truly remarkable testament to the author. Suzy needs to find a Mommy and she knows her way around the `digital world' so she plans out a highly commendable strategy and off she goes. The account of her previous Domme is somewhat horrific, but it only goes to show how spectacular Suzy's new relationship is right from the start. If I had a `little girl', I would really want Suzy to be her best friend.
Pilar attaches a photo depicting a gorgeous Latin woman along with her elegantly brief posting on Kinklife.com that speaks right to Suzy's heart and probably dozens of others. From the start through the essential crisis moment, Pilar and Suzy's relationship provided a fabulously engaging, provocative, and soul-stirring story. I love it when I cannot put down what I am reading for almost anything and this book easily fit the bill. It would be an honor to have Pilar as a friend or associate. She was amazing and oh so human.
Let me say without hesitation that everyone should read this story. However, probably folks who are more comfortable with sexually provocative f/f and D/s relationships will be completely satisfied. Nevertheless, I cannot imagine anyone with an open heart, curious nature, or passion for reading not enjoying this magnificent book. I am going to be redundant and say I totally recommend this!

Loved It

I loved this book. It was a wonderful love story. It was sweet, sexy and down right hilarious at times. I wasn't sure I could get into the story based on the specific type of Dom/Sub relationship but I totally did. The sex scenes were HOT and frequent with just the right amount of kink. I really liked the main characters and there chemistry. This author is one of my favorites. The first book I read of her's was Better Off Red - (the BEST vampire story I've ever read) and I've been hooked on her ever since. I'm already looking forward to whatever's next...
