The real thing

I have been counselling patients for more than 15 years based on what I've learned at school and at work. And I was looking for a book that would really touch the humanistic side of the patient counselling process. Thanks God, I found it.
I highly recommend keeping a copy of it in your library to refer to it whenever you feel that you are sinking in a dry world of guidelines and recommendations. It is the real thing.

This book is a waste of money and I regret buying it. If you've already taken a class that requires a large textbook, such as psych nursing, then you've already learned the communication/culture material presented in this text.

It provides a clear, hands-on guide to understanding, justifying, and implementing the S88 concept, applicable to a wide range or process industries.

About the Author
JIM PARSHALL is a Senior Process Automation Engineer at Eli Lilly and Co. He is currently assigned to the Indianapolis Dry Products site, which serves as a development center for new tablet and capsule products and provides the manufacturing capacity for worldwide distribution. After coordinating the development of an automation and information technology strategy for the site, Jim is now planning strategic automation and information integration projects. He leads the corporate team responsible for overseeing a global supplier alliance with Rockwell Automation and is a member of the company's global process automation strategy team.

Before joining Eli Lilly, Jim worked as an automation engineer at Ben & Jerry's Homemade in St. Albans, Vt. He led the design and delivery of process control systems during the exciting startup of the company's newest and largest plant. As part of his process control and supervisory system responsibilities, Jim led the successful installation of an S88-aware batch control and management system.

He received his BSEE from Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute), and received his MSEE with an emphasis in manufacturing from Purdue University. Jim is an active participant in the World Batch Forum, and he is a member of the ISA SP95 standard committee on enterprise-control system integration.

LARRY LAMB is the Software Manager at Oakes Electric, a Rockwell Automation distributor in New England and New York. He is responsible for leading the business and technical aspects of providing technology-based solutions to customers.

Before joining Oakes, Larry was a controls engineer at Ben & Jerry's Homemade in St. Albans, Vt. His expertise drove the design of the control architecture at the new plant in St. Albans, and Larry was responsible for writing the process control and operator interface code for the plant production area.

Larry received his BSEE from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

Written to be understood

Well, this was a technical book that was actually written to be understood. The authors were able to say what needs to be said in just 150 pages. That was great. There is no need to stuff a book with junk. The great physicist Ernest Rutherford said, "If you can't explain your physics to a barmaid it is probably not very good physics". That is true. Indeed, Jim and Larry were able to explain S88 to barmaid! That was quite an achievement. This book worth the price.

Very good for S88 introduction ...

Very good insight into S88, considering there isn't much else on the market and the author had to learn it from scratch and even then talk to the ISA S88 committee members. After going through this book in detail, I'm amazed that the ISA S88 committee members didn't realize they were creating an abstract standard with terminology that is so general that it's not understandable. Jim Parshall - two thumbs up. ISA S88 committee - thumbs down for detachment from reality.

understanding this book was very easy and I would have liked it to explain more ...

I have been working with batch processes for 7 years and had heard a lot about S88. Because of that, understanding this book was very easy and I would have liked it to explain more deeply some of the points. Anyway, it awolled me to understand all the basic concepts and now I think I would be able to create a software that followed S88 and that inproved the way I define and program the processes.

Susan North is the Curator of Fashion 1550-1800 at the V&A.

Jenny Tiramani was the Director of Theater Design at Shakespeare's Globe Theater between 1997 and 2005, where she and her colleagues, Melanie Braun, Luca Costigliolo, and Claire Thornton, led its award-winning experiments in authentic Shakespearean stage costume. In 2009 they founded The School of Historical Dress in London, where they teach the techniques of making historical fashion.

Melanie Braun is a teacher at The School of Historical Dress, where all aspects of designing, making, and wearing historical clothing for theater, film and the living history movement are taught.

Luca Costigliolo is a teacher at The School of Historical Dress, where all aspects of designing, making, and wearing historical clothing for theater, film and the living history movement are taught.

An amazing book on historical costumes

This book is a MUST OWN for anyone interested in the history of fashion in general, and Renaissance clothing in particular. It is absolutely incredible how they analyzed existing garments from the time period in painstaking detail to gain understanding of how the garments were made. There are dozens of close-up images of each item, along with insightful analysis of their findings. Reading this book feels like picking up these garments for yourself and turning them over in your hands.

It's hard to imagine that Buddha envisioned different schools to disseminate his teachings, but two great traditions have emerged: Mahayana (encompassing Tibetan and Zen Buddhism), growing north out of India, and Theravada or Vipassana, known in the West as Insight Meditation, which developed south and east of India. This good-hearted primer is a true beginner's guide to what it claims is "the fastest growing school of Buddhism in this country." The authors are well-qualified: Weisman taught at Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Mass. (the first and largest U.S. Vipassana retreat center), and Smith authored The Beginner's Guide to Zen Buddhism. The tone of the book matches the spirit of Insight Meditation in that it is less formal than Zen or Tibetan Buddhism and also more autocratic ("individual practice is founded on each person's self-inquiry into what works for them"). The first-person stories nicely support the more instructional, but not doctrinaire, how-to bulk of the text. Complete with a biography of the Buddha, a list of U.S. Insight Meditation centers, some core sacred texts and a glossary, this volume is the perfect starter kit for people curious about Buddhism, who may or may not adhere to another faith. A Definite Insight To Meditation

Finally! This guide is a wonderful, simple, logical insight to meditation. Weisman and Smith answered many questions I had regarding Buddhism and meditation. I am so grateful for finding this informative book and hope to incorporate some of these methods into my life. I highly recommend this reading for anyone who has questions on meditation and transforming equanimity and inner peace into their life.

Excellent Introduction to Insight Meditation!

I've been meditating for quite some time and have been exploring the various schools of Buddhist thought. I found this to be one of the clearest written, most informative and helpful books on Insight Meditation.

There are others, including A Path with Heart, that are fantastic but if you're looking for a concise description of Insight Meditation and how it differs from other schools of thought without getting too esoteric, this is among the best.

I just bought this excellent reference book. It is concise, to the point, and a great tool for any pediatric practice.
There is no other pediatric reference book like it. Unlike Bates, it is only pedi, not adult. I had been waiting for an assessment
book like this for years! I recommend it highly as every venue where children are treated needs this book.
