John Macsai was a partner with Hausner in Chicago office of Hausner & Macsai back in late 1950s and 70s. I worked on top floor at 104 South Michigan with John often meeting him in our corridor on his way to work . John went on to teach Architecture in Chicago. John pioneered Chicago style lakefront housing units.
Purple Hotel, originally known as the Hyatt Lincolnwood, was designed by Hausner & Macsai, whose real architectural legacy stretches up Lake Shore Drive. Chicago's narrow corridor is reminiscent of Miami Beach is due in part to firm, having built 21 E. Chestnut, 1400 N. State Parkway, 1100 N. Lake Shore, 1240 N. Lake Shore, Harbor House at 3200 N. Lake Shore, and familiar, curved 1150 N.
