Dr. Nancy Musarra is a licensed clinical psychologist and certified sport psychologist with more than 17 years of experience counseling children, teens and adults. The mother of three teenagers, she combines her education, clinical skills and experiences to help individuals and families achieve balance, success and meaningful connections with others. Dr. Musarra maintains a private practice and has lectured in the United States and Europe. She specializes in psychological assessments, intervention strategies and performance anxiety.

I found this book to be straightforward and insightful. As a mother of a special needs child, the experiences of these families brought back a lot of reflection. I wish this book was available years ago as it would have been a comfort to know that there were other families dealing with the same type of situation. It’s a must read for any parent of a child with special needs as well as without because it displays the understanding of what families deal with and to appreciate the uniqueness of others and what they have to offer. I couldn’t put the book down. Very well written.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Musarra's book. As a mental health professional, I found it enlightening and I think it would be useful for professionals in my field and a great inspiration to every person raising a child. After I finished reading it, I thought about how wonderful it would be if the author wrote a text that could be used in graduate programs, for future educators, clinicians and medical doctors. I hope she does!!

The New Normal is a great read for any parent, not just those with special needs. I loved the "7 things to know as you care for and love a child with special needs." It was spot on and very thought provoking. The author gives insight through her experiences both personal and professional. She also includes insight from lots of parents of special needs. It is well written an very informative.
